How to Improve Your Mindset with Social Media

Do you feel stuck and uninspired with your social media channels? Maybe you feel like you’ve been creating content for years but it hasn’t helped your business.

Trust me, I’ve been there. Social media can feel like a digital rat race, and it’s easy to doom scroll yourself into burnout.

The best way to improve your relationship with social media is to improve your mindset about it first. With the right mindset, you’ll feel inspired and ready to create content that can impact your followers on an emotional level. Read my top three tips for improving your mindset below!

1. Create Before You Consume

We’ve all been there: as soon as your alarm goes off, you grab your phone from your nightstand and start scrolling through social media. After a few minutes (or maybe even an hour), you feel deflated and zapped of your energy.

The reason you feel that way is because you started your day as a consumer, not a creator. Consuming first doesn’t allow you to do your best creative work, and it can leave you feeling overwhelmed and unmotivated.

To improve your mindset, I recommend you start your day with some quiet time by yourself. You could journal, meditate, do some yoga, or simply watch the birds go by while you drink your coffee.

Then you can set aside time to create. That could be filming TikTok videos, writing Instagram captions, or jotting down a few ideas for new posts.

A healthy morning routine will improve your mindset and put you in the right headspace to create meaningful content. Once you’ve created your content for the day, you will enjoy scrolling through your feed more.

2. Batch Create Your Content

On the practical side, a ton of creators get overwhelmed by the idea of creating effective social media content every single day. You start to feel like your day revolves around your apps and you can’t focus on anything else.

To counteract this feeling, I recommend batch creating your content for the whole week or month in just a few hours. A few hours of dedicated work can save you so much time, and the feeling of relief from knowing that your social media content is taken care of is unreal!

Another perk of batch-creating your content is that you can plan the flow of your posts and strategize them more. Instead of throwing up a random post and hoping it reaches people, you have a thought-out action plan.

This tactic will improve your mindset because it turns the tables. Instead of you working for social media, social media works for you. Each day you will feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that your social media channels are bringing new people to your brand and creating the community of your dreams.

3. Define Your Goals with Social Media

Do you ever get so burnt out from social media that you question why you’re on there in the first place? Don’t stress, it’s something we all experience from time to time. You can combat this feeling by having airtight goals and objectives with your social media content.

Think back to when you launched your brand and first started using social media for your business. What was your purpose? Did you want to attract more clients? Create a meaningful community? Change lives with the power of your story?

It’s easy to lose sight of your original goals when you get lost in the daily grind. I encourage you to write down your goals again and define your new purpose with your social media content. How have your goals changed since you got started? Do you have new goals to replace the old ones?

Once you know your goals, you can define your purpose for showing up on social media every day. Your purpose will improve your mindset around social media and fuel you to keep going even when you don’t feel inspired.

Improve Your Mindset with Social Media Through Strategic Storytelling

The more you use your social media channels to inspire others, the more motivated you’ll feel to keep creating valuable content for your community. The best way to inspire your followers is to reach them on an emotional level with your story.

To do that, you need a storytelling strategy to show up confidently as your authentic self. Remember, there’s only one you, and the world needs your story. Approaching social media this way is the ultimate way to improve your mindset, power up your creativity, and get out of the digital rat race.
